synchronization errors in redirected folder

We have Our "My Documents" folder redirected to a network share, I've just
installed the trial version of OneNote 2007 on a user's laptop. He came to
work today and the files refused to sync up, keep getting an "Access is
Denied" for the OneNote files that need to be synced to the server/network
share. It actually erased the local copies this morning, but we were able to
recover from the OneNote auto backup folder. The user has all the proper
access permissions, could this be related to how OneNote was initially setup?
Trial Version? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

So other files synch up, just not .one files?
What about other files (eg. .doc) in the same directory as the .one files?

Which local copies?
If set up the right way, notebooks are nit stored locally on a laptop
and opened from the shared device instead. So there should not be any
"local copies" (except the backups).

Therefore: How are the notebook files used on the laptop?
What do you use for synching?
Are you referring to OneNote's automatic synching or is this about using
any other software fro synching in a file-synch basis?

The trial version would not make any difference.

Is there a problem with *synching* only?
Can the files be opened on the laptop from the shared device?

OneNote was set up on the laptop as a "stand alone" install, not shared.
We use roaming profiles, the user's My Documents folder is redirected to a
server share.
Syncronization is enabled via group policy.
The only files that did not sync were the OneNote files.
Thanks

It's almost as I thought (feared) :-(

Working this way spoils the way ON works.
I'd suggest to change the way you work with ON:

1.) Remove the notebook files from the laptop.

2.) Exclude the ON-notebooks directories from any synching instruments.

3.) Open the notebooks in ON in the laptop *shared*.
Everything will then be synched by OneNote's fantastic synching
automatically.
