synchronize imap and pop3

Howdy,

I have a puzzle that has me stumped.
My mail server supports both imap and pop3.
I have just switched from pop3 to imap.
I switched to imap so I could read and manage my mail from anywhere.
However I also have a requirement to maintain the pop3 mail on one
computer that sync's with a PDA (which does not support imap).

My puzzle is, if I delete a mail item from imap it is not deleted from
pop3.
The reverse does work. If I delete a mail item from pop3 it is
reflected in my imap account.

How do I make imap and pop3 mail look the same?
I want to be able to manage and delete my mail from anywhere & have it
synced with my PDA.

It'd be happy with a config change or additional software tool to keep
them sync'd

Thanks everyone for your time.

you need to edit, purge after you delete with imap.

The trouble with doing this (purge deleted items) in the IMAP account,
if the POP3 already knows of the mail item it remains there & is not
deleted.
Is there a way to re-sync the pop3 account with imap.

Since the POP account's message store is local to your machine and the IMAP
account's message store is on the server, the one has nothing to do with the
other. You don't "sync" POP and IMAP. If you copy something from the IMAP
folders to Outlook Today or Personal Folders, they are two distinct
messages. Deleting one cannot affect the other.
