Synchronizing Inbox on 2 virtual computers

I am a virtual user of an email account (i.e. I am not on a computer attached
to the email server). Furthermore, it would be ideal to have access to the
email account from more than one computer. However, when I set up the
account on more than one computer, only the computer that checks and receives
any new mail first is the one that has it on record. Also, only the computer
that I send mail from is the computer that keeps the sent mail on record.

Is there a way to set up the 2+ computers to syncronize all incoming and
outgoing mail??

READ THIS FIRST:
I do not want a reference to an article that refers to downloading and
installing a program on the numerous comuters. I want to know if there is a
way to sync the INBOX and SENT items ONLY (i.e. don't worry about calander,
contacts, etc.). There ought to be a way in Outlook since all the mail is
saved on a server that both computers connect to to receive/send main anyways.

Incoming mail goes through a server at your ISP so, if you elect to leave
the mail on the ISP for a few days you can download it onto any computer
that you set up an account (for that email address) on.

Your outgoing mail will always remain on the computer it was sent from. It
is not stored on the outgoing mail servers of your ISP.

But it seems that once I access the mail from my ISP (isn't it the mail
service providers - see below), it stays on the computer that first received
it; the other computer(s) can't access the messages for some reason.
Apparently, a way around this is through the use of Offline Folder files
(OSTs). However, the directions given on Microsoft's Knowledge Base and the
help system do not seem to work correctly.

My email is a stanford.edu email address. Stanford is not an ISP. My ISP
is Comcast. Isan't the Stanford server where the email is saved. AAlso keep
in mind that I am accessing the email virtually; I am not on a computer
attached to the Stanford network.

YOU have to make the adjustment in your email account to leave the email on
the ISP servers. If you do not, it will be deleted from the server when you
first download it. I have mine set to remain on the server for 7 days, after
downloading, at which time it will be deleted. This way I can download it to
different computers in different locations.

The actual mechanics as to how this works I am not knowledgeable of. It is
possible that the ISP mail server also has to support this option. Small
ISP's may not have the storage capacity to offer this option. It can chew up
an awful amount of storage space.

In Windows Mail go to Tools | Accounts | Properties | Advanced and make the
necessary changes - then see what happens. Download the mail to one computer
and then close down the email program. Now go to another computer and set up
the computer email account the same way. Send/receive the email and see if
you retrieve it yet again. If you do it is working.

Forgot to give you the path for Outlook 2007.

Tools | Account Settings Highlight your email provider and click on
"change". Then go to More Settings | Advanced.

Make the necessary changes there.

The only way to sync the sent folder is if you use an IMAP acct. With POP3,
you can leave the mail on the server... this is a setting in the client.
