Synchronizing OneNote

Just wondering if it is possible to synchronize the contents of a OneNote
notebook on a desktop computer with a notebook on a laptop computer?

Thanks!

Yup! You can use Windows' "Offline Files and Folders" feature to perform
this synchronization.

Yes. Search for both my name and 'sync' for detailed information. I,
personally, have had problems using the Offline Files feature for
OneNote. It works OK for other things but not for OneNote.

Bear in mind that Grant's experience was before we released SP1, whch has
fixes for dealing with Windows offline files.

Before you spend any more money on a special tool, read about our
recommended way of doing this in detail including steps on how to set it up
here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=831596. Keep in mind that this link
provides the most secure steps to avoid any trouble. Most of the time
everything works fine without being religious about closing and manually
syncing. Best to follow the steps in the link though if you plan to do this
a lot.

You can read the Knowledgebase article on how to do this here:

Chris, my experience must have been different from those at Microsoft, as
is often the case. One of the first things I tried after installing
OneNote SP1 was the offline files feature. It still didn't work for me. I
believe I mentioned it at the time. Being the determined and careful
person that I am, I followed all of the guidlines in the KB article
without having read it. It still didn't work.

It may work just fine for other people. But for me, since I already owned
SureSync, I just went back to that.

I see - I didn't realize you had tried it again after Sp1 came out.

Craig, I keep critical files (including OneNote files) in sync between
desktop and laptop machines with Super Flexible File Synchronizer, an
inexpensive Win pgm you can get at http://www.superflexible.com. It can be
set up to compare and sync folders on 2 machines across a LAN. I use it all
the time with my OneNote files and it works without a hitch.
