Synchronizing Outlook 2000 and Off Line Folders

I am using MS Office 2000 with Outlook 2000 on my
laptop. I have enabled Offline Folders in order to
compose email while not connected to my LAN. I have
noticed that while online, I delete several items from my
In Box only to have them still appear when working
offline. I have pressed the F9 key as well as setup
Outlook to synchronize all folders upon exiting. The
synchronization occurs, but the deleted items from my
INBOX still appear in the INBOX when working offline.
Why does this happen? At this point, I am having to
delete the items twice, once while online and the second
time when working offline.

Any help or explanation regarding this problem would be
greatly appreciated.
