Synchronizing Two Computers

A

Arthur Lipscomb

I use Outlook on two different computers. I have Outlook XP on my desktop
and Outlook Express on my notebook. I want to be able to read newsgroup
messages on one computer then synchronize with another so the same messages
aren't downloaded twice. Is this possible?

Also, is there a free program that will allow me to similarly synchronize
emails between two computers running Outlook?

I've read that synchronization requires Outlook set to use imap. How do I
configure this in Outlook? I've gone to tools then account/options, but I
don't see an option to select imap.

Thanks in advance.

You can't use IMAP unless your mail server uses IMAP. Also it is very
obnoxious to crosspost. It is like spamming and many people will not respond
to people who do it.

Outlook and outlook express are two different programs. Keeping two OE's in
sync is a PITA (see insideoe.tomsterdam.com for OE help) - if you just read,
try newsgator or nntp for outlook
(http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/news.htm) or get agent or some better
newsreader.

Not easily. http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync.htm

No, it's not a requirement, but if your mail server supports IMAP, it's the
easiest way. if your server supports IMAP, you need to create a new email
account using tools, accounts.

Sorry, I disagree entirely. Multiposting the same question individually to a
bunch of groups is a Bad Thing. Crossposting to a handful of relevant
groups, as the OP has done, is standard practice and quite correct.
