Synchronizing?

S

SV

Greetings,
I just started at a new job and we're using Outlook 2003 (SP1) on an
Exchange server. I noticed my Outlook System Tray icon is showing what
apperas to be two envelopes on it, and if I squint REAL hard, I see little
horizontal lines that look like one is 'moving' to the left, and the other
to the right.

I put my cursor over it and it says that "Microsoft Office Outlook is
Synchronizing Folders" AH, now I havc something to go on!

So, I looked at help, figured out that my company had very kindly set ALL my
exchange folders to be available off-line, and so Outlook was trying to do
its job. Cool, I can disable that.

The question becomes.... does that mean there are local files created from
those synchronizations? If so, how can I delete them?

Thanks,
Shane

If you have a set of offline folders, look for a file with a .ost
extension - you can delete that if you really don't want a local copy of
your mailbox. If you are using Cached Exchange Mode, it will create a local
copy. Ask your Exchange admin about the advisability of deleting the file
and disabling cached mode.
