syncing desktop with notebook

JERRY

Is it possible to sync my desktop files with my notebook. I see a box at the
lower portion, left side of screen that says something about personal
notebook and syncing to it

Any help would be appreciated

Yes. You need a storage location which is common to both the laptop and
desktop computers.

You can store a OneNote Notebook on a shared network drive, or on a USB
memory stick, and (re)open that Notebook on both the desktop and laptop
comupters. OneNote has an cache system which will allow you to work with
the data offline, and then sync to the network/USB copy when connected.

Jerry I recommend to keep them on a USB stick.
I do exactly the same thing you want to do.
It works with no problems.

Just remember

*to take backups of your usb stick time to time to insure against a possible
damage to the usb stick
*take into account that you need to remember to bring the usb stick from
home to work and vice versa.
(actually even if you forget it, you can still work on ON, but without the
latest changes made on the other computer.
Conditional on that you do not modify the same paragraph in a page, ON will
sync the next time, everything between the two computers)

The idea to keep the On files on a network drive is not appealing to me.
Because it has to egt connected to the network which is most of the time
takes time and is problematic.
Also, if the connection is slow, it will take some time to sync the changes.
The USB option is the best I think.

You think that remembering to plug in a USB stick (assuming you remembered
to bring it) to synchronize is more work than occasionally being connected
to your LAN?

Whoops I meant to say *less* work. Personally I find the network approach to
be much more automatic.

Depends how fast and good your connection is right?
LAN can become problematic from time to time.
Moreover, a USB stick can be used when you do not have acess to internet.
