Syncing note flags from latop to desktop pc

M

me

Hi
I make notes on my laptop and desktop, and want to make sure that I use the
same predefined noteflags on them both. Is there any easy way of copying the
noteflags I've defined on my Desktop to my laptop?
thanks

Yup, but be careful - the following is probably not supported by MS, and
will likely break something else.

On one of the two computers, completely define your flags however you
wish. Then close OneNote on that computer.

Look in Explorer for a file called "preferences.dat" found in the
following folder: "C:\Documents and Settings\<yourname>\Application Data
\Microsoft\OneNote"

Copy this file to the exact same location on the other computer.

What you've done is copied the flag customizations (and lotsa other
settings) between the computers. They are still separately defined. Any
further Note Flag changes should be performed redundantly on both
computers.

Again, this method is unsupported by Microsoft but I've done it a few
times with no ill effect. But don't trust me ;) Perform System Restores
of your second machine and a backup before copying the file, and keep a
backup copy of the replaced "preferences.dat" in case you have problems.
