Syncing ON 2007 & WM5

R

Ray

I installed the upgrade to office 2007 last night and upgraded to Vista
business today. I installed the Onenote feature through the options>onenote
mobile>install onenote mobile to my 6700 pocket pc running WM5 and it works
great but I do not understand how it syncs. Are you supposed to use the
shared notebook and folder sync feature? Seems cumbersome but if that's the
way MS thought it should be done...
I must be getting old~ it took me 30 minutes just to figure out that
outlook express doesn't exist. Maybe I am supposed to use the http community
newsgroups. Hopefully someone still uses these and can help me out. TIA

Ray,
I am not sure what to tell you about the Mobile part of OneNote, but I am
sure someone else will pop in with an answer for that.

But.... I can help you access the newsgroups: You want Windows Mail. (That's
what OE became in Vista). You set up your newsgroup accounts there. It works
like the regular newsgroups, with a couple of extra features if you want to
add a login. (And, yes - we are all still here and will be for a LONG time
we hope.)

Thanks Kathy~
Can you point me to a KB article that explains syncing OneNote in Vista (I
already set up SMS but that only helps partially with Outlook)? I already
figured out the Windows mail with newsgroups- that is in help, But TechNet
costs $$$$ and you get it free as an MVP.
Thank again

As I don't have Vista or a compatible mobile device, I can't answer your
question.
But, what do you mean with your reference to TechNet? You don't need
TechNet to post in these newsgroups and get your questions answered by
peers (and for the OneNote newsgroup also potentially answered by
members of the team that develops OneNote).

Gripes about Outlook 2007:

First and foremost, no newsgroup reader!

Sorry!!
Totally wrong place to complain.
*Outlook* never ever supported NewsGroups.
There are others, but, this is the relevant one. Would I give up
the features in 2007 for the newsgroup reader?

No.
You would not give up anything.
It would just be as it was before.
I'm saddened that it is not there. This just means I have to keep
using thunderbird.

I simply don't know.
But NewsGroups support always has been left over to "Outlook Express".
Period.

Let's hope so!!
And let's hope that someone would pop in who might have at least a dim
imagination on what he/she was asking/talking about!!!!

Sorry to say so, Kathy, but why do you reply on issues you simply do
know nothing about at all?

Pls be so kind as to read back in the thread.
The above quoted is the most remarkable piece of a *meant* reply going
totally astray.
It's simmply absurd.
Period.

AFAICS prior to your reply *NO-ONE* had been talking of "Windows
Mail".
Why?
This simply was not an issue until YOU tried to make it that (out of
the middle of nothing/nowhere).

Sorry,
but let's stay to the questions and the problems asked

Would you pleeeese be so kind as to make a short break???
What you list is just breath-taking ....

Exactly!!
Outlook Express is not existing anymore under Vista.
There's something new like "Windows Mail" or so.

But: What might that have to do with "OneNote"????
In so far your asking just reads as a whole lot of nonsense.

Hey, Rainald,
Chill...

The original poster (Ray) said that Outlook Express doesn't exist anymore
and asked what he was supposed to use. He guessed the Communities. My answer
was to that part of his question.

The Communities part of Windows Mail is what should be used for newsgroups.
You can either set it up to access through the communities interface or
directly through nntp as you always have been able to. The same information
is available from both places. In fact, in Windows Mail, the interface is
the same.

Search for 'newsgroups' in my Outlook 2003 provides all the info to setup
and use.

You all are incredibly inept at staying on topic. I too am having an issue
syncing my OneNote Mobile Notes with OneNote on my Vista PC. Can somebody
please answer the original question of how do you get the two to sync? It
did work until I had to uninstall OneNote Mobile due to a technical issue.
Now that I've reinstalled it - there is no syncing functionality and I can't
figure out how to get it back on...

For me,

I've installed the OneNote Mobile program on my PPC-6700 PPC phone and
I can create notes on the mobile device. However, the "OneNote Mobile"
notebook is nowhere to be seen on my desktop OneNote 2007... How do
you create it? How do you get it back???

Thanks
