Syncing PC to PDA

B

Bob S.

I am having a problem syncing from my PC to my PDA.
Through ActiveSync, I can get my notes from the PDA to appear on my PC but I
can't get the notes from the PC to move to the PDA.
I've tried for several days to get it to work but to no avail.
Is there some kind of setting I need to make to get the sync to work in both
directions?
Thanks in advance for answering my question.

The OneNote sync does not work from PC to PDA. Hopefully the next version
it will do a better job.

Well, John and Michael, thanks for trying.
I already have the OneNote Mobile syncing PDA to PC. I loaded the AddIn and
got the Button on the tool bar, made a change on my PC and clicked the button
but the data would not transfer to the PDA.
I even tried clicking twice and got your addition of the warning box (nice
feature by the way!) but I still couldn't get the data to transfer.
Strangely enough - when I click on the Copy to Device button, it makes a
duplicate page in the notebook.
Do I have it set up correctly?

The addin just copies whatever page you are on to the Mobile notebook in
OneNote.

To make sure I understand, you are using ActiveSync (so I assume Windows
XP), and you have set ActiveSync to sync OneNote, right? Notes created on
the device sync to OneNote desktop, but not the other way around.

I suggest unchecking the Sync OneNote checkbox in Active Sync, then let the
device "not sync." Unplug, re-plug it in, then unplug one more time.

Then toggle the setting back on.

John,
OK, I get it now.
When I ht the "Copy to Device" button, it is supposed to copy the page to
the Mobile Notebook File on my PC, then when I sync, it should move over to
the PDA. Is that correct?
I am using Vista, I have the Sync OneNote checkbox in Active Sync checked,
and everything else syncs just fine (calendar, notes, etc.)
I'm wondering two things:
1) Maybe my OneNote Mobile folder is in the wrong place? It is in the
Documents folder and it is labeled "OneNote Mobile"
2) When you say: "Notes created on the device sync to OneNote desktop, but
not the other way around," does that mean that if I create something in my PC
I can't transfer it over to my PDA?
Thanks so much for the continued help for a new OneNote addict!

Oh, no. The stuff transferred to the Windows Mobile OneNote application
comes from within the OneNote Application on the PC. It is a tab down the
left side of OneNote that is labeled OneNote Mobile. Within this book, I
have two tabs across the top, one from my Tilt and one from my SP5.

John,
A bit of a frustrating afternoon.
I finally got your great Add-In to work and it is fantastic. I just click
the button and presto, the page is duplicated in my "OneNote Mobile" notebook.
Syncing is a problem, however.
Tried your suggestion for about an hour and even reloaded OneNote Mobile to
my PDA but no luck. the program loads, lets me make entries on the PDA but
won't sync - now neither way!
Michael or John - any aditional suggestions?
