syntax error? Compile error? bug? Word for Mac 2004

I recently upgraded to Office 2004 from Office X.

IN the last 2 weeks, 2hen I open a word document in word 2004, I
sometimes get a warning:
The document you are opening contains macros or customizations. Some
macros may contain viruses that could harm your computer. If you are
sure this documentcan bhe trust click enable macros. If not click
disable macros.

Sometimes, when I've just opened the program and try to open an
existing doc, I get the message: Compile error. Syntax error.

If I click OK: then I get this weird Private Sub Document.

Then I sometimes get the screen: Miscrosoft Visual Basic: This
comannd will stop the debugger.

I sometimes get this when oepning new documents and am now getting
it on old documents. It seems very random.

Is this a virus? Is there a cure? Is it in the documents or in the
program?

I am using Microsoft Word 2004 for Mac Version 11.0

It sounds like some of your documents have a macro, maybe set to run
automatically on opening, in them, and that it isn't running properly.
Those weird screens you mention are taking you into the macro-editing
environment. You could try selecting and deleting what you see there, next
time it happens.

Also try bringing up Tools | Macros and looking at the list of macros to see
if there is anything you don't want or don't recognize there.
