System Cann't find the file specified Problem Opening files in Word 2007 on Vista

Greg Creme

I am having a problem trying to open .doc and docx files from windows
explorer and also from outlook (attachments). If I double click on the
document in windows explorer, Word 2007 opens and then I get an error
message saying: "windows cannot find [insert full path and file here]. Make
sure you typed the name correctly and try again". I click ok, and then
double click the file again (with word running now) and it opens just fine.

If I try to open an attachment from outlook, I get the message: "The System
Cannot find the file specified". If I double click it to open it again, it
opens without a problem.

It is just annoying to have to try to open everything twice in order to open
it. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this problem? I am
running office 2007 pro on Windows Vista Ultimate.

Thanks,
Greg

Try running the Office Diagnostics which will reregister the Office products
in Windows again.

I ran the office diagnostics. It says that there are no problems in any of
the checks that it ran.

Hi,

I definitely having this problem as well and have tried deleting the
Outlook TEMP Folder, etc. The problem exists with all Word and Excel
documents and just started happening. I click on the attachment and i
get a file not specified, the second time I click on it, the document
opens just fine. However, if word or excel is already open, then the
file opens just fine.

Any helps would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks

Damon
