One of my coworkers is running Excel 2002 on an older system under Windows 98
SE. Recently he has been having problems with opening and closing files.
Specifically, his problems are thus:
1.) When attempting to open a workbook while another workbook is open, his
system will freeze up completely and he will have to manually hit the on/off
switch in order to reboot.
2.) When closing Excel (either through File --> Exit or by clicking the "x"
button), he will either receive a series of blue screens or the system will
spontaneously reboot.
We have uninstalled/reinstalled Office completely on his system, hoping that
reverting to the original, unupdated version would solve the problem. Upon
testing, we have found that the problem still occurs. Has anyone else had
similar problems and, if so, what were you able to do to fix the situation?
