system crashes when I save in Word 2002

Hi,

I'm running Windows XP Home and Word 2002. When I save a
document in Word, sometimes the whole system crashes and
the only way to restore my system is to power down. This
happens when I manually save, or when Word does an auto-
save. Any ideas?

Hi Zach,

When Word crashes do you get any kind of error message? If you do can you give me the details of the message?

I would also like you to try saving documents after launching Word with the /a. To launch Word with the /a go to Start>Run>
and type in windword.exe /a and say. Launching word in /a loads word in a default mode and does not load any add-ins or
items from the startup. It also starts word with a default normal.dot.
