System exception: access violation

In FP 2002 on an XP system, I clicked File, New, Page or Web, and selected
the Personal Web template from the "New from Template" list on the right side
of the window. Then I clicked View, Folders to see the files. When I
double-click on any of the html pages, I receive the following message:

Title bar = Microsoft Frontpage
Message = System exception: access violation

Then Frontpage freezes and I have to shut it down. How can I access these
pre-built pages?

Also, when I open the page in my IE 6 browser, it loads fine. But when I
try to File, Edit with Frontpage, I receive the same message.

Have you tried the usual repairs in the sequence below:
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
Usually in C:\WINDOWS\Temp and %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
Usually in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache
3) Run a Repair on FP (In FP menu Help - Detect & Repair) and also a Repair on IE
(see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=318378 )
4) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, MS Office and your Video card
(Windows Update and Office Update sites, plus your video card supplier site)
5) Open FP and Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins,
6) Open your FP Web/Site and run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks
