System Hang-up

When I double-click some WORD.doc files in Windows
Explorer, system locks-up. Files open if WORD launched
first. Other files .xls, .ppt, etc. OK. How do I fix.

More than likely you have a corrupt Normal.dot so start with those
steps first.

Hi, Bob.

A quick try is to go to Search and bring up Normal.dot. right click and
change its name - to say Normal(1).dot. If you find more than one, change
them also. Reboot and if all is okay - cheer. If not you may need to check
all the templates by moving them all out and putting them back two or three
at a time until you find the corrupted one.

Beth's advice is much more comprehensive...

I am going to take a look at the link. I hope the
suggestions from you and Edward help, this is not a really
big problem, just inconvenient whrn in a hurry. I'll let
you know what happens.
