System Idle Process running at 99

I have noticed, when I view the processes running in Task
Manager, that the last item on the list: System Idle
Process is running at 99 or 98 nearly all the time. What
is this process and why is it so CPU needy? It's slowing
things down, big time?

This is the wrong news group for this question, but the answer is that what
you are seeing the amount of CPU usage that available to you. In other
words you are using 1 or 2 % and 99 or 98 % is available.
