System resources: 2003 vs 2007

I have a bare bones computer (Gateway Pentium 4, 3.20GHz, 2GB memory, 160GB
HD) Vista Home Basic. It runs VERY slowly, memory is maxed out. It is used
mostly for email (Outlook), web surfing (IE7) and very light word
processing). I am a registered owner of both Office 2007 & 2003. I have
2007 installed now. Would I gain much if any speed if I went back to Office
2003? Any other suggestions would be helpful.

You would probably gain more by disabling the "eye candy" in Vista.
