What print publication would work the best to design a t-shirt? I've never
used this program before. An aquaintence designed a t-shirt, front & back,
for a middle school sports group. There was soccer ball on the back, with
the individual names of each player(first and last name) going around the
ball, and around and around with everyone's name. The front had the school
mascot with text above and below. I'm looking for something a little
different, but like the idea of all the players full names on the shirt.
Which publication would be the easiest to use for a first-timer?

Any good draw program will be best to use. Publisher can do what you are asking,
it takes a little work. Take a look at WordArt if you want to do something like
your friend did.

Not easy (I'm still trying to learn it) but it has a setting for text that
follows a path (like in a circle) is Adobe Illustrator.
If you, or someone you know can draw (like with markers, etc) you could
always draw it on paper and scan it and copy/paste the picture onto a
program.
Publisher will let you set up 2 pages (one front, one back)
I don't know how you are going to put them on, print them on special iron
on paper or have a commerical place do it?
Cafe Press will make T shirts (like as they are ordered, and you could
order them yourself) but they are kind of expensive.
