tab and outlining

For some reason, word no longer automatically promotes to
the next outline level when I am in my outline and press
tab (I have to go to the indent icon at the top of the
screen instead). Does anyone know how to fix this?

Oh, I found the answer--Doug Robbins' 9/17 email response
to "Bullets no longer work the same after adding updates"--
thanks very much to Doug, that helps a lot!!
