Hope this is the appropriate newsgroup. If not, please advise (.. and
it may be a Windows or video adapter problem)
Client pointed out a problem that has existed with several forms for
several years, but never bothered to inform me. Only a recent on-site
visit revealed the problem. Application is developed in A97, and only
recently updated to A2003 (problem exists in both versions). The
problem is not present on my primary development machine (notebook) or
checking machine (CRT display). It *is* present on two of the
customer's desktop computers (LCD panel), but not on another desktop
computer (LCD panel). We did not check *all* his computers.
There are Tab controls on several forms that grow vertically upwards,
thus obscuring the controls that are positioned immediately above the
Tab controls. In other words, some Textbox controls that are on the
main form get "wiped out" by the growing Tab control. (Each form has
only one Tab control; there are several affected forms.) The Tab
controls display properly on my computers.
I was on-site only for a short time and could not check everything
completely, but it *seemed* like the errant behaviour was linked to
screen resolution on the LCD panels. The two affected LCD panels were
running at 1280x1024 (native) resolution, while the unaffected machine
was at 1024x768. Every form that had a Tab control that we checked
exhibited the behaviour, but we neglected to check at least one other
form that had a Tab control. I have since asked the client to check
that form, too.
I have also asked the client to check for updated video drivers on the
two affected machines.
Beyond that -- I am stumped. Has anybody seen a similar problem, and
if so, what was the resolution?
