tab indent

When i am making a list with bullets and I add a new bullet with the
intention of hitting tab to make it an indented sub-bullet, only the cursor
is indented, not the bullet. Im on Word 2008 for Mac. Please help!

You need to use Outline Numbered formatting for which there is no handy
default button. Select your List & go to Format> Bullets & Numbering -
Outline Numbered. For customizing see Word Help on the topic:

Create an outline numbered list
