Tab key to make outline within table

Perhaps I should seek a different way to format my document but for my
new lesson plans I'm trying to set them up so that I have a time next
to the activity I'll be teaching in class. This helps me stay on track
during my lectures. I want to outline the various activities and
lectures notes I'll be teaching from. I made a simple table with two
columns: one big one for my lecture notes and outline; one small one
with projected times.

The oh so annoying thing, however, is that when I'm trying to type my
outlines the tab key doesn't indent a new bullet point like I want it
to, but jumps over the cell with the projected time in it. I'm not sure
how to override the tab action temporarily so that I can type my
outline. Is there a way to do this?

Hi Jesse-

In a table cell, use Option+Tab to demote a bullet point or numbered item.

Thanks! BTW, sorry for not mentioning this earlier, but I'm using Mac
Office 2004 with all the latest updates installed.

I tried this just now and it works (though awkward on the fingers)
almost but not quite. If I press Option+Tab (or Ctrl+Tab) the line will
indent but the bullet point doesn't follow - I just put a tab inbetween
the top level bullet and my text insertion point.

In addition, I can't use the shift key to modify this backwards to left
indent as I would be able to outside a table. Is there a different
modifier for left ident?
