tab leaders in table cells

I have an 8-column WORD 2003 table with names in the first column followed by
7 columns of dectab-aligned dollar amounts; I need to insert tab leaders in
the leftmost table cell that will extend to the cell boundary. When I go to
Format menu/Tabs, I can select tab leaders in the lower section of the
dialog, but the dialog also needs me to specify where the tab leaders end (at
the cell boundary); how do I calculate this, considering I am using px's
(pixels) as my standard unit of measurement?

What are you trying to do actually, have the names followed by leader that
extends to the right boundary of the cell?

Easiest thing is to just insert the tab and then hold down the Alt key and
left click and drag it along the ruler with the mouse until it is in the
desired position.

Dear Doug Robbins,

I tried inserting the tab in the Format/Tabs dialog (with the cursor in the
first NAME cell), then holding down ALT and dragging the pointer through the
corresponding point on the Ruler; this resulting in convering my type size
from Arial 10 to my default of Times Roman 14, and nullifying all the
dec-tabs in the succeding figure columns. How am I messing up here? Many
thanks.

Without being there to witness it, I can't tell. While I have not tried
what I suggested when I suggested it, I have just done it and it works fine
here.

I have found it best to SELECT the Table cells (Shift + South Cursor) in the
column where I want the leaders to appear, and to work through the
Format/Tabs dialog to produce the tab leaders. Also, I have found that if I
so much as click on the Ruler to set any pre-chosen tab stop positions, the
font style will revert to Normal; however, I can undo this with the reverse
icon on the standard toolbar.
Many thanks.
