TAB problem

This may post twice - I just signed up and not sure if I posted the first
time.

Have been using WORD 2007 for a month with no problem. All of a sudden for
the last week when I type names and tab over a couple of times and put in a
number (single spaced), it looks all lined up on screen, but when I print
some of the numbers are lined up and others are not. I turned on paragraph
marker and don't see anything odd.

Example:

Mary Ann Johnson 24
John Olson 64

It doesn't matter if I tab once, twice, three times, etc. I even tried
printing to a different printer????

Does anyone have any idea why this started happening? It's lined up
perfectly on the screen, showing the tab arrows in preview.

I suggest you read up on "Tab Stops" in the Help.

There are several KINDS: Left, Centre, Right, and Decimal. For numbers,
normally you should use the "Decimal" flavour of tab: that lines up the
right hand edge of the number where the decimal point is (or would go if
there isn't one).

Tab stops are a property of the paragraph style you use to format your text.
They can also be a property of the paragraph format, or a default property
of the document.

The most important thing to know is that you need to "Set" the tab stop
positions so they are right for whatever you are doing. Relying on the
document defaults usually leads to misery. Take a moment to set just the
tabs you need for the paragraph you are working in.

If you are handling a little tabbed text throughout the document, set the
tabs in the style you use for that kind of paragraph, then they will line up
throughout the whole document.

If you need to handle a lot of tabbed text, consider using a Table instead.
You do not have to display any lines on the table, but it makes lining up
large lumps of text very quick.

Hit the Help: It will give you a good explanation of how to set tabs.

Cheers

By the way, for next time: You've landed in a discussion group for users of
Mac versions of Word. Mac versions differ variously from PC versions.
Although several people here use both PCs and Macs and may give you an
answer soon, it's likely that more people in a PC group have experienced
your specific problem. Here's where all the groups are listed:
