Table Apx. numbering not sequential

I am trying to number tables in the Appendix, and I am using

Insert/Caption/Table_Apx

The numbering sequence always starts at 1 and won't go to 2???

The numbering sequence always starts at 1 and won't go to 2???

Caption numbering is managed by REF fields. Press Alt+F9 and you
should see all the field codes in your document. Could you
please copy/paste what you find between the { field brackets }
of a REF field (mis)behaving as you describe?
