Table Auth. Search Feature in Footnotes/Doc a Big Problem

Is there any way to use the Table of Authorities feature
and have it search the footnotes AT THE SAME TIME as it is
searching the regular document? In our law office, some of
the cases are in the footnotes, but some of the short
forms of these may be in the main document. Since Word
makes us search the document separately, we may end up
missing short forms (of long forms in the main document)
that appear in the footnote area and vica versa.
