Table borders disappear with linked file update

I use an invoice template in word. It is layed out like this:

bill from: my business name and adress

bill to: customer name and address (automatically filled in with merge
data source)

job description, date, amount, total: linked excel file

Each of the items above are in boxes and the excel table has borders.
When I print an invoice out it comes out fine.. the first time.
After printing I click next record to load the next customers name and
address, then I go to the excel file and fill in the job description,
dates, amounts and it calculates the total. I then go back to the
word document and have to click "Links..." and manually tell it to
"update now" (even though it has "update automatically" checked).
Form this point all seems fine. I can look at the print preview and
it shows the borders. BUT when the page come out of the printer there
are NO BOXES OR CELL BORDERS.

I have found that if I close and reopen the word document that the
borders will be back but after one print they are gone once again.

Am I going about this all wrong?

Hi Gulfstreme,

I'd suspect the printer driver. Try downloading and installing the most
recent driver for your printer from the manufacturer's website. If that
doesn't help, ask in the word.printingfonts newsgroup.
