Table destroyed in Word X for Mac

L

levine

I am using Word X for Mac SR 1. I have a one-page table which I cannot
successfully export either as PostScript or as PDF. The result is all
garbled in either case. One symptom is that the background color in
word ends up on top of the text. But the text is generally not
preserved either.

The original document was created using Word for Windows (probably
2003, but it is not accessible to me now to verify the version).

The same file is handled correctly by Word for Windows on Windows XP
Professional.

The documents are available as:

http://home.cern.ch/mlevine/postings/Jul05_tide_table.ps

Any help you can give will be appreciated.

Hello,

Let me first say, thank you very much for posting your document. It makes
it a lot easier to trouble shoots problems and come up with solutions.

I reproduced the issue on Word X, and the printing issue seems to be with
the Table.

Your Table "Allows spacing between cells". (From the Menu Bar go, Table |
Table Properties... Under the Table tab click <Options>) If you uncheck this
option, and print to PDF or PS all the contents of your table should appear.

This issue was fixed in Word 2004.

Hope this information helps...

It's possible that the table is corrupt. Try this: Click into the table
and go to Table> Convert> Convert Table to Text. Then immediately reverse
the process: Table> Convert> Convert Text to Table. Any help?
