Table Formula nd Bookmarks

I have a table in which one cell is bookmarked using the name
PrimaryDiameterInches. Inside this cell is a number 18. In the next cell
to the right I insert the formula under <Table><Formula...>
=PrimaryDiameterInches

First it shows 18 and you'd expect. Then if I select the cell and press F9
it becomes 36, and if I keep repeating it keeps adding 18 thereby getting 54
then 72 etc!!

Why should this be the default behavior?

How can I stop this!

Hi Jim,

When you apply your bookmark, don't select the entire cell. If necessary,
select the entire cell and then press Shift+LeftArrow. That way, only the
contents of the cell (and not the cell itself) will be selected.

When you select the entire cell, the "=" field is picking up not only the
value of the bookmark but its own value as well. In fact, from my tests it
looks like the bookmark is returning the contents of the entire row of
cells.

If you change the "=" field to a REF field, you'll generate a
"self-reference" error because the reference field is pointing at itself,
even though the field is in one cell and the bookmark is in another.

That's exactly what I experienced when trying to use the REF function.

Thanks for insight.
