Table | Insert menu won't open

I am working with a user whose normal.dot file was causing Word to hang
on startup. I deleted normal.dot and Word started working normally.

Now, however, whenever the user opens an existing document and clicks
Table | Insert, nothing happens. The sub-menu does not open. The same
happens if you copy and paste the document into a new document.

The Table | Insert sub-menu works normally for new documents.

What is wrong here, and how can we fix it?

Have you tried File, Open, select the file and then use Open & Repair to see
if it finds any problems with the file?

Well, the problem seems to be gone now. The user shut down her computer
overnight; that may have helped. If it happens again I'll try your advice.

Restarting Word/Windows should always be a first line of troubleshooting.
