"Table is corrupt" & Word crash

Ned Trilby

Hello, Can anyone suggest a solution - when I open my document i get
the message:
"Dialogue box message: "A table in this document has
become corrupted. To recover the contents of the table:
select the table and choose Convert Table to Text from
the Table Menu"
- but before I can scroll through the dicument to identify thr
offending table Word closes down.
TIA, Ned

You can narrow down the search for the corrupted table by splitting the
document in half and determine which half causes a crash, then split that
half into two and determine which of those two is the problem and so on.

Thanks Doug,
It sounds like the "binary chop" I used to use a long time ago to
check batch files - but how can I "split" a word ".doc" file into two?

Make copies and delete the first half of one and the second half of the
other. Lather, rinse, repeat.

It sounds so simple Suzanne, but did you not fully read my original posting:

" but before I can scroll through the document to identify the
offending table Word closes down."
