table link from earlier version of access will not open in 2003

my friend has some .pdd files that she used to have linked to her access db.
at this time she was using an earlier version of access. now she has 2003 and
cannot open the link on her db to those photos. how can they be restored. we
can find the pdd files but can they be opened in access 2003 as such?
