table numbering question

Hi,

I am new to infopath and am trying to create a form which has a large table
in it. Each row in the table asks questions and requires a pass/fail
response to be selected. I have not done this as a repeating table because
as I understand it that would allow the person completing the form to add
more lines and I want the table to be static. I have used the layout
facility to create the table and have added pass/fail controls to each line.

My question is whether it is possible to number the rows. When I try to do
it each line is numbered as 1.

Many thanks in advance

Hi,

Thanks for that but it's not on a repeating table. It is a "layout" table
containing 5 columns the first of which I want to contain the row number.

To give some background to what I am trying to do I am writing a form based
test script for people to carry out specific actions and then click Pass or
Fail against each action and I want to be able to number the rows. The only
control on the "layout" table is the Pass/Fail option.

Thanks,

Su

Just a few remarks:

1. You can disable the insertion/deletion of rows to/from a repeating table
(check out the properties dialog box of a repeating table and step 4 of this
article:
http://enterprise-solutions.swits.net/infopath/avg-function-infopath.htm).

2. You can pre-fill a repeating table with values (take a look at step 23 of
this article:
http://enterprise-solutions.swits.net/infopath/avg-function-infopath.htm).

The two aforementioned actions would make your table "static". Having said
this, you can try using a repeating table with the previously suggested
solution for autogenerating the numbers for your rows.
