Table of Authorities Format

Is there any way to get a table of authorities to use the formatting
of the original text?

Case names are marked in italics but the TOA creates them in roman.

(There is a check box to keep original formatting when creating the
TOA but it apparently does not correct this problem)

Clarification---

If you put the text in italics using the italics button, the
formatting check box works.
If you use STYLES to put the text in italics (or underline) the TOA
does not transfer the formatting.


(Now I see why people usually do this by hand.)


So if the case name is formatted in using styles, is there any way to
get the TOA to format it property.

As a workaround---is there anyway to get word to change the formatting
within the TOA fields to from styles to underline/italic?

The TOA (and TOC, etc) are styles that you can set to your requirements and
save with your templates. However, if you apply direct formatting to to a
heading, the direct formatting is picked up by the TOC. It is best to avoid
using direct formatting and set your Heading and TOC/TOA styles
appropriately.

The TOA has a style of it's own. You should modify that style to add the
Italics to the TOA.

The TOA has a style of it's own.  You should modify that style to add the
Italics to the TOA.

I add, I know that the TOA has a paragraph style. I cannot find a
character style that only gets applied to that what was once in
italics.

If you put the entire TOA in italics you violate the all sacred Blue
Book.
