Hi Tatiana:

That's a broken "bookmark".

It's actually a bit fiddly to fix it. Look in your table of contents to see
where the selection begins and ends.

Go to the body of the document and select the text making SURE that you do
not select either end of the bookmark.

Then cut the text, and paste it back into the document ahead of the bad
bookmark.

It's usually a broken cross-reference that does it: if you can find it,
delete the cross-reference and the bookmark will go with it.

Hope this helps

Don't helps, I have this problem in every newly started document and in every old one and I don't know how to take out this selected table of contents and all selected numbers of pages.

Hi Tanya:

OK, I understand that English is not your first language, so let me make
sure I understand what you mean?

You have some text appearing more than once in your table of contents? And
the page numbers are wrong?

If it is not that, please explain with as much detail as possible.

Cheers

John: Tanya may be describing unwanted text (Table of Contents, etc.)
which has accidentally become part of her Normal template.

Hi Robert:

Yes, she may. Or she may be describing the fact that her TOC is picking up
heading levels she doesn't want. Or she may have broken cross references in
her document. Of she may have broken bookmarks. Or she may have a mixture
of styles and bookmarks. Or she may have multiple TOC fields...

From her description: I am not at all sure what is wrong.

Cheers

Tatiana,

The unwanted content (Table of Contents and footer page numbers) may
have gotten into your Normal template by accident. All new documents
contain everything in your Normal template. Delete your Normal
template and Word will make a new clean template.
1. Quit out of the Word program.
2. Find your Normal template (Normal) in Users/your_name/Documents/
Microsoft User Data/
3. Drag Normal (your Normal template) to the trash and empty the trash
4. Start the Word program.

New documents will be clean from now on. Old documents will still have
the unwanted content.

I hope this helps.

Robert
