I am new to mac from pc. I am having trouble creating a toc and toa in a word doc. i did it in pc by using shift/alt/o to highlight the entry then going to insert/table contents/ at the place i was putting it. is there a similar short cut in mac? I am sure i am over thinking this and the answer is right in front of me but I am pulling my hair out!!

Hi Patti

The equivalent stroke in Mac Word is:

Shift+Command+Option+o

Or you can assign a keystroke of your choice if you wish... The command is:

MarkTableOfContentsEntry

I Patti:

You are using a very laborious way of creating a TOC :)

Simply apply the styles Heading 1 through Heading 3 to format your
"headings". Then insert a TOC and it will all "just work".

You can use the same method for the TOA, based on a specific style, but most
people would prefer to mark TOA entries the way you have been doing.

Hope this helps
