Table of contents error

When I create a Word book chapter with headings, then use
the headings to create a table of contents (TOC), I can
update the TOC in the same document and print it. But if I
try to copy the TOC into a new document and then add
other chapter TOC to it, then print, I get an error.
Error! Bookmark not defined. (where the page number used
to be) Is it possible to solve this problem?

Hi John

The TOC is a field which needs to be regenerated to reflect the headings in
the current document - a full TOC update will do this (updating page numbers
only will give you the bookmark error.)

But if what you want is the actual headings from the first document
unchanged in the second, then you need to lock the field or convert it to
text (unlink it) before copy and paste.
