Hi,
I'm using Word 2003 in Windows XP.
I am creating a document with 3 levels of headings. At the moment, in
the Index and Tables Dialog Box on the Table of Contents tab, I am
trying to remove some Styles that are appearing in my Table of
Contents incorrectly.
About 20 times in a row now, when I remove one of these Headings by
removing a check on the Table of Contents Options page, and then click
OK, Word crashes.
Here is what is checked: Show Page Numbers, Right-Align Page Numbers,
Show Hyperlinks instead of Page Numbers.
Show Levels: 3
Format: From template
(Whether the above are checked or not; I've unchecked and rechecked
them one-by-one, when I uncheck my L2 *Notbold style in the Style list
on the TOC options page, Word crashes.)
On the Table of Contents Options page, I clicked Reset, then Ok, and I
got a TOC with a few of my headers in it. But when I saved the
document and selected Insert > Index and Tables > Table of Contents,
my list of styles reverts to my long list of too many styles. Where
is it getting this list of styles? How can I change it permanently?
(or even once and get it to not crash Word?)
This list of styles is correct in the template that I have attached to
my document. (the template is called Internal.dot) If I open
Internal.doc and open Insert > Index and Tables > Table of Contents,
the list of styles is what I want, so the TOC generator is not getting
its list from THIS template.
Where is my document getting this TOC list of styles? Why does it
keep crashing? How do I change the list of styles without it
crashing?
Can anyone help?
Thank you.
