Table of Contents info

Ricki Miles

I am working in Word XP and am building a table of contents. I am using
Heading styles for the titles throughout the document, but I also have
information in the header of each section (procedure number) that needs to
be in the T of C. For each entry, it would have the text of the Heading
followed by a tab, then the corresponding procedure number, then dot leaders
to the page number. Is it possible to build a T of C that includes other
information on the same line?

TIA,

Ricki

Hi Ricki,

Yes, but you'd have to construct it using TC fields rather than (or in
conjunction with) the Heading styles. Whereever you need such a combined TOC
entry, insert a TOC field, *and* format the actual heading text with a style
that's *not* picked up in the TOC.

{ TC "Heading text here[tab]Proc.Nr" \l 1}
