Table of Contents Question

When I open my document the Table of contents displays in code, I have to highlight it and then right click and toggle codes to get it back. Even if I save the doucment this way it still reverts to code when I re open it. Any help is appreciated in advance. Thanks, Paul

The document window from which you are opening it has field codes displayed.
Press Alt+F9 or clear the box for "Field codes" on the View tab of Tools |
Options before opening the document.
