Table of Contents - 'sticky' Tab marker

Table of contents in a Word doc - insists on putting a
tab at marker point 5.5cm even though in NONE of the
styles applicable to the document is there a tab of any
kind set at 5.5cm (anywhere, never mind just TOC2 or the
headings that go at that level in the TOC)

I can manually remove the tab marker of course, but as
soon as I Alt-F9 to update all fields in the doco, the
TOC refreshes ... and puts the darn 5.5cm tab back in ...

Any ideas?
