Table of contents - - still unclear

Thank you Shauna Kelly. I'm using Word 2000. I tried the
first meathod and only two and now one of a bolded heading
showed up in the TOC. Nothing in the pages below the toc
insertion point ( I put it on page 4). The heading (s)
that show up on toc was above the toc. Also tried puting
toc on bottom of document to pick of rest of bolded parts,
marked in bold a - o, still did not work.

Word help wasn't much help. Did find step by step FCU on
web was more help.

I also tried meathod 2 where you mark the headings
alt+shift+o, but this didn't seem to work either. I
probably messed up the boxes in the modify or pull down
menu somewhere.

What styles are supposed to be applied to what I want to
appear in the insert>indexes>modify>modify boxes mine says
toc on top and normal(left) and normal .

I'll be glad to send you a portion of doc to see.

Happy Holidayss ,

All the headings or other styles that you tag for inclusion in the TOC
should be included regardless of where the TOC is inserted. The location of
the TOC is irrelevant. Please see Word's Help topic "Create a table of
contents," which gives very good instructions.
