Table of Contents: Two Styles

M

Mathias S.

Hello NG,

In Word 2002 I'd like to create a table of contents that looks like this:

I Bla
II Blabla

1. Blabla
2. Blabla
3. Blabla

How can I specify the first two paragraphs to have roman numbers (I, II) and
the rest of the document to have arabic numbers (1., 2.)? I have formatted
all paragraphs with Headings 1 - Headings 3.

Thank you very much for your help.
Mathias

The only way I can think of to do this is to use two separate TOC fields,
one right after the other (though you may find Word is more comfortable with
an empty paragraph between them). Use TOC 1 style (with I, II, III
numbering) to pick up the headings you want in that TOC. In the second TOC,
use TOC 2 style (with 1, 2, 3 numbering) to pick up the headings that should
appear there.
