Table of contents using Table Entry fields

Hi everyone,

I am wondering what the keyboard shortcut is to create a table entry
field in Word 2004? On the PC version, using Alt-Shift-O will create
the entry then creating a table of contents from that. I can't find
anywhere what the Mac shortcut is (tried Alt-Shift-O with no luck)

Any help appreciated

Hello David,
It depends how you have your word set, to see it navigate to
Tools>customize>customize keyboar> in the left window navigate to
inster and in the right find *InstertTableofcontents* and see if it
has any keyboard shortcut assigned or no, if no you can assing what
you like.
Hope this helps,

Hi David -

Your equivalent in Mac Word is Command+Option+Shift+O
(MarkTableOfContentsEntry).

You're certainly welcome - If you're a "keystroke kinda guy" search Word's
Help using the keyword: shortcuts. Many are a matter of substituting the
Command (Apple) & Option keys for the Control & Alt keys, respectively, but
there are quite a few that differ radically.

As an afterthought it occurred to me that you may find the following useful:

http://word.mvps.org/mac/differences.html

http://word.mvps.org/mac/Bend/BendWordToYourWillTOC.html

And if you download "Bend Word to Your Will", on page 151 you'll see how to
compile a document of all keyboard commands in Word (on both the Mac and the
PC). The article covers the main differences in Word interfaces on the 2
platforms.

[Note: "Bend Word to your will" is designed to be used electronically and
most subjects are self-contained dictionary-style entries. If you decide to
read more widely than the item I've referred to, it's important to read the
front end of the document -- especially pages 3 and 5 -- so you can select
some Word settings that will allow you to use the document effectively.]
