Table of Contents

I am using Word 2002 (XP). I have a large document that has various headings
that are numbered. I would like to include the number in the "Table of
Contents" along with the page number.

I have searched "Help" and the web and so far I have not been able to
resolve this problem. All I can get is the heading and the page number.

This is what I would like to generate in the "Table of Contents"

1. Head Office of League..................................1
2. Duties of Officers..........................................2
a) President...............................................2
b) Vice-President......................................2
c) Secretary...............................................2

Any help would be appreciated. I am an intermediate novice at Word (if there
is such a thing) so detailed instructions would be required.

Thanks.

Then use Outline Numbering. To do that, open a new document, go to
Format-Bullets and Numbering. Go to the Outline numbering tab and first
click on each one and hit RESET. This gives you a clean slate. Now, use the
Heading 1/2/3 styles type. To change the numbering sheme, USE THIS DIALOG
BOX by clicking the levels at left and then adjusting the settings right
here. Do NOT do this using any other method or it won't work and you'll be
very unhappy. In other words, don't go out to your document and change the
indent on one of the styles and then update it...it won't work right.

Thanks for the help. I am getting closer to achieving my desired result. I
finally got the heading numbers to print at the left but when I run the
"Table of Contents" the 2nd level shows all the text within the paragraph
instead of just a) President and the page to the right. I am getting very
frustrated with this. I can't believe anything can be so difficult.

Thanks,
