Table of contents

I have created a table of contents. The file was large
so it was broken into 2 files. How can I add to the
table of contents manually with the page number in the
other file?

You can't while it remains a field, but when you have finished editing the
document, you can change the field to text using CTRL+Shift+F9 which will
produce an editable (but not automatically updatable) version of the
contents list. May I suggest you do this on a copy of the document, should
you have to go back and do last minute changes.
