Table of Contents

After typing out a good deal of a very long document, I found that my left
hand margin is 2cm, but it needs to be 4cm to meet submission requirements.
No, problem I simply used the slide-bar at the top of the document to change
the left margin to 4cms. Other than a few simple formating issues,
everything appears okay. However, in my document I have 3 tables; Contents,
List of Figures and a List of Tables.

The problem is that after I change the left hand margin, even after
updating, the table of contents loses the ability to align to the right hand
side of the page (meaning the page numbers are not visible). Whereas the
List of Figures and the List of Tables, post update, resolve the the
right-hand margin perfectly!

All of the tables are created use the standard MS Word fields.

If I change the left hand margin using the Page Layout menu the same thing
happens.

Any ideas?

You will need to change the position of the tab stop that defines where the
page number is located in the respective TOC Styles.

Have you however tried deleting the table of contents and re-creating it
after the margins have been set to the new values.

Thanks for your comments Doug,

I have tried deleting the TOC and starting again, but the same thing happens.

I will look into the tab stop suggestion you made.

Thanks
