Table of Contents

I am trying to create a table of contents in Word 97. I can create the table
OK, but would like it to be "hyperlinked" so when I click on the entry in
the table of contents it takes me to the relevant part of the document. I
have seen this done frequently, but cannot create this in my table of
contents. Can you help me please?

Thanks

I seem to recall that in Word 97, the page numbers are hyperlinked but
the heading text is not. In later versions of Word, both heading text
and page nubmers are hyperlinked. If neither item is hyperlinked in
your TOC, then press Alt+F9 to toggle on display of field codes, add a
\h switch to your TOC field so that the field looks something like { TOC
\h } (there may be other switches after the TOC already; if so, just
tack the \h onto the end of what's already there), press Alt+F9 to
toggle off display of field codes, click somewhere in the TOC, and press
F9 to update the field.

Brilliant thank you, I will try it.

I do have a document with fully linked text in Word 97 but on reflection it
may have been created in Word2k. As soon as I update it, only the page
numbers are linked so you may have solved it for me.

Thanks

Harry
